Development of advanced atmospheric data products
In AGACC-II, we use ground-based remote sensing techniques to develop advanced data products, so that we can support chemistry-climate applications.
These measurements will take place in 4 observatories:
- Ukkel, Belgium (50.5°N, 4°E)
- Jungfraujoch, Switzerland (46.5°N, 8°E)
- Ile de La Réunion, Indian Ocean (21°S, 55°E)
- Bujumbura, Burundi (3°S, 29°E)
AGACC remote sensing locations
Our partners have already acquired a long-lasting expertise with various remote-sensing instruments:
- Brewer spectrometers
- CIMEL sunphotometers
- Fourier-transform infrared spectrometers
- MAXDOAS spectrometers
Also, new expertise will be developed for :
- measuring aerosol backscatter vertical profiles with a lidar ceilometer
- in-situ characterization of aerosol optical properties with an aethalometer and one or two (wet and dry) nephelometer(s)
Our researchers will work in close collaboration with modelists and spectroscopists.
