Hereafter follows a list of related initiatives in the field of atmospheric remote sensing.

The European Network of Atmospheric Composition Change has, over the past six years, brought together the atmospheric science community engaged in global change and air pollution studies. More than 150 research teams and ca. 2000 scientists from 32 Countries are engaged in this network.

The Aerosol Robotic Network program is a federation of ground-based remote sensing aerosol networks established by NASA and PHOTONS (Univ. of Lille 1, CNES, and CNRS-INSU) and is greatly expanded by collaborators from national agencies, institutes, universities, individual scientists, and partners.

Presently, there are five GAW WDCs each responsible for archiving one or more GAW measurement parameters or measurement types. They are operated and maintained by their individual host institutions. They collect, document and archive atmospheric measurements and the associated metadata from measurement stations world-wide and make these data freely available to the scientific community.

IPCC is the leading international body for the assessment of climate change. It was established by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) to provide the world with a clear scientific view on the current state of knowledge in climate change and its potential environmental and socio-economic impacts.

Monitoring Atmospheric Composition and Climate - is the current pre-operational atmospheric service of the European GMES programme. MACC provides data records on atmospheric composition for recent years, data for monitoring present conditions and forecasts of the distribution of key constituents for a few days ahead. MACC combines state-of-the-art atmospheric modelling with Earth observation data to provide information services covering European Air Quality, Global Atmospheric Composition, Climate, and UV and Solar Energy.

COST action that rings together leading European scientists to address the issue of atmospheric water vapour and its impact on climate.
